Kate, RN, BSN, has recently been promoted to clinical team coordinator in the medical geriatric diabetic unit

Kate, RN, BSN, has recently been promoted to clinical team coordinator in the medical geriatric diabetic unit. The geriatric, diabetic population has been one of those patient groups selected for testing out new models of care. The proposed model would emphasize earlier engagement in patient care management and the longer-term continuum of care service structure for delivering care to this population of patients. Kate has been asked. to put together a small team of nursing colleagues to directly effect a reduction in hospital inpatient admissions, a higher level of quality of service, and a stronger positive impact on the lives of geriatric diabetic patients. She is excited by the opportunity and looks forward to the work of the team.

Question: How should Kate ‘set the table’ with the right diversity of team members to address the issues the team will need to confront?

Some advocates of universal health care coverage have suggested that the ACA represents too much of a political comprise with the advocates of a fundamentally flawed mixed public and private system of health care—and that it should be abandoned in favor of advocating for a single-payer model as the ultimate solution to the health care crisis. Defenders of the ACA argue that it represents the nation’s best hope for achieving both universal health coverage and health care cost containment because it is the most politically viable approach to reform. Which point of view do you believe is the most credible and why?
