Discuss one listening skill and one action skill

There are many things that bring clients to therapy. However, there are a few prominent reasons. First, clients come because trusted, safe loved ones have expressed concern for them. Also, they come to treatment because they feel concerned about symptoms or behaviors that they see in themselves. They also come because they risk losing something important (e.g., a marriage/partnership, friends, job, access to children) if they don’t change their behavior.

For this discussion, identify one listening skill and one action skill that will be easy for you to engage. Explain why these skills are easy for you. Discuss one listening skill and one action skill that will be difficult for you to engage. Explore why these are challenging skills for you. For all skills, consider your personality style, previous academic and professional experiences/training, and culture.
