Improving cost-effectiveness and health outcomes

I am struggling with a topic for my paper this week on Developing strategies based on a theoretical framework, to support technology use in optimizing patient safety, and in improving cost-effectiveness and health outcomes.

In addition:

  1. Introduce with some relevant background, a problem of interest (patient safety, cost, health outcome, etc.), which can be improved through a technology solution.
  2. Write two “statements”:
    • Problem statement (Note: this is likely more than a “statement” as you will need some background, etc.); and,
    • The problem is worded as a research question (study question).

For example:

  • Problem: Patient throughput (time from ED admission order to placement in appropriate bed) is higher than national benchmark expectations.
  • Question: Would an implementation of a process change (name it) improve patient throughput?
  1. Identify the theoretical model (any nursing, system, or organizational theory is ok – and you may use one that you’ve already written about) that you would use to frame a research study around the above question; -or- Identify the quality improvement methodology (any QI methodology – with the exception of the “RCA”) you would use to perform an improvement study, from the question from above.
  2. And, in one to three paragraphs discuss/justify why you’ve chosen what you have. For example, if you’ve chosen a QI methodology rather than a theoretical model… Why? (Refer back to Notes from Instructor in the Week 6 Course materials).
  3. Finally, draw or diagram it.

Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thank you!

Questions
What is the take-home message of the article?
List 3 mental health issues that YOU perceive to be “women’s issues”.  Why are these perceived to be “women’s issues”? How might these issues affect men, directly or indirectly? Be sure that you are listing mental health issues. If you are unsure about whether the issue is classified as mental health, do some research to be sure.
List 3 mental health issues that YOU perceive to be “men’s issues”. Why are these perceived to be “men’s issues”? How might these issues affect women, directly or indirectly?
Consider the three mental health issues that you listed as being “women’s issues”. If you or a male member of your family had one of these conditions, how might that affect their health-seeking behaviors? Alternately, if you or a female member of your family had a mental health issue perceived as a “men’s issue” how might that affect their health-seeking behaviors?
Break the stereotypes- why are these issues not simply “women’s” or “men’s” mental health issues?Personal examples or experiences are encouraged.

Philosophy of nursing

My initial philosophy of nursing while in nursing school was just a career that will pay my bill. However, from the moment that I started clinical to graduation and today, my views changed. Everyday encounter with patients and staff changes my views more and more. I became heartbroken by the care disparity among minorities. Today my goals in the nursing profession are to advocate for the voiceless patient, educate, empower them, and provide them with services necessary to provide the best patient health outcomes even if it takes me the extra mile.

I do admire and agree with Phil Barker’s Tidal Model of Mental Health Recovery theory. The theory proposes that in mental health nursing, “the factors having to do with a psychiatric crisis can be cumulative as well as diverse. The theory states that there are no absolutes in health care. A patient’s health is fluid, and nurses often need to adapt to an individual patient’s situation in order to help him or her get healthy” (Petiprin, 2023). This is to say that What works for one patient in his or her illness may not work for another patient in his or her illness. Barker’s Tidal Model helps nurses care for patients in the mental health field by recognizing and working with the inevitability of change in a patient’s life and environment. “Tidal Model appeals not only to mental health practice, but it also supports everyone who needs shelter where they feel safe at some point in their lives” (Kusdemir et.al., 2021)

Nursing theory is very paramount in the sense that I see it as a bible that guides the nursing profession. It is needed for better patient care. I intend to incorporate as much theory as possible, and attend seminars and workshops for knowledge aggrandizement. As is popularly said, “knowledge is power”. This is the power that will for sure benefit my patient.

Investigate healthcare privacy breaches and the associated risks

The purpose of this discussion is for you to investigate healthcare privacy breaches and the associated risks and the ethical and legal issues confronted as a DNP-prepared nurse. Privacy breaches are serious offenses that negatively affect the trust between nurses and patients. To maintain this trust, nurses must maintain the privacy and security of patient information.
