Personal philosophy of nursing

Write a 2- to 3-page paper that explains your personal philosophy of nursing. It should examine and identify your own perspective (definition) of the metaparadigm of nursing, person, health, and environment, as well as identify other concepts you believe should be a part of our metaparadigm. Additionally, your paper must:

  • Discuss how these concepts are interrelated in terms of how you understand and accomplish your work.
  • Include one or more examples from your work that captures the essence of your philosophy.
  • Explain what is important in your practice of nursing. Consider including your values, beliefs, and assumptions about nursing as a science and as an art. Answer this question from one of the following perspectives:
    • Pediatric nurses: What is your philosophy regarding the nursing care of children?
    • Hospice nurses: What is your philosophy regarding the care of people at the end of life?
    • Mental health nurses: What is your philosophy of mental health nursing?
  • Include a global view of nursing. Examples include your experience in practice and your particular area of practice.
  • This paper should be written in your own words but without any use of first person. It may be difficult to write about your personal philosophy, including personal examples, without using the first person. However, it will be good practice to write a scholarly paper in this manner. Consider using “The author believes…” or “One might expect…” instead.
  • No citations are required; however, if the writings or statements of others have influenced your philosophy, these can be included and should be properly cited.
  • The paper should be double spaced and formatted according to APA (American Psychological Association) standards.

The practice of health care providers

The practice of health care providers at all levels brings you into contact with people from a variety of faiths. This calls for knowledge and acceptance of a diversity of faith expressions.

Complete a comparative analysis of two faith philosophies towards providing health care, one being the Christian perspective. For the second faith, choose a faith that is unfamiliar to you. Examples of faiths to choose from: Sikh, Baha’i, Buddhism, Shintoism, etc.

In a minimum of 1,500 words, provide a comparative analysis of the different belief systems, reinforcing major themes with insights gained from your research.

In your comparative analysis, address all of the worldview questions in detail for Christianity and your selected faith listed below and be sure to address the implications of these beliefs with regard to health care.

1) What is prime reality?
2) What is the nature of the world around us?
3) What is a human being?
4) What happens to a person at death?
5) Why is it possible to know anything at all?
6) How do we know what is right and wrong?
7) What is the meaning of human history?

In addition, answer the following questions that address the practical and healthcare implications based on the research above:

1. What are critical common components to all religions/beliefs in regard to healing, such as prayer, meditation, belief, etc.? Explain.
2. What is important to patients of the faiths when cared for by health care providers whose spiritual beliefs differ from their own?

Support your position by referencing at least 3 resources

Which theory or theories are being used by Jessica, Marco, Maria, and Dr. Wilson to determine the moral status of the fetus? What from the case study specifically leads you to believe that they hold the theory you selected?
How does the theory determine or influence each of their recommendations for action?
What theory do you agree with? Why? How would that theory determine or influence the recommendation for action?

The CDC Framework for Program Evaluation in Public Health

Program Evaluation Paper:

Drawing from the CDC Framework for Program Evaluation in Public Health, state the Need for and the Targets of a blame-free ‘culture of safety or ‘just culture’ organization-level program. Rather than searching for a ‘program on a culture of safety or just culture’, use a resource that explains one of these using key principles or dimensions or elements. Then, the clinical, population-based program you select can be linked to the desired culture. Please see the exemplar papers for more information.

You may find it helpful to use the CDC Logic Model (Step 2, Describe the Program, in the CDC Framework or Program Evaluation in Public Health) to describe the program. The logic model table must be completed and inserted in the text or treated as an Appendix.

    • Provide one Effect/Outcome for each type of outcome: short-term, intermediate, and long-term
  • Provide descriptions for each element and associated examples in the narrative.
  • Results and Recommendations
    • potential strengths and weaknesses of the program according to the logic model evaluation
    • implications for future specialty practice

Types of pharmacotherapeutics used to treat respiratory disorders

Asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) are significant public health burdens. Currently, more than 25 million people in the United States have asthma (HealthyPeople.gov, 2019). As an advanced practice nurse, you will likely encounter patients who will present with respiratory disorders, including asthma or COPD. Understanding specific treatment protocols as well as the types of pharmacotherapeutics used to treat respiratory disorders is important to ensure the effective and safe delivery of advanced nursing practice.

This week, you will evaluate drug therapy plans for patients who present with asthma and analyze the stepwise approach to asthma treatment and management from a patient in your professional practice.

The multiaxial diagnostic assessment

DSM-5 gives an appendix of information about multicultural aspects of diagnosis. It is divided into two sections. The first section is an “outline for cultural formulation” that is intended to supplement the multiaxial diagnostic assessment and to address complexities that arise when applying DSM-5 criteria in a multicultural environment.

It systematically reviews peoples’ cultural backgrounds, the role of the cultural context in symptomatology, and also cultural differences between the patient and clinician. The second section is a glossary of “culture-bound syndromes.” For instance, hwa-Byung (also known as wool-Hwa-Byung) is a Korean folk syndrome attributed to the suppression of anger. Its symptoms include insomnia, fatigue, panic, fear of impending death, dysphoric effect, indigestion, anorexia, dyspnea, palpitations, generalized aches and pains, and a feeling of a mass in the upper middle region of the abdomen.

Explain how culture affects what is considered normal and abnormal, and describe one different culture-specific disorder using the attached reference list.

Role Strain and Burnout in Nursing

Role Strain and Burnout in Nursing, Write a 1000-1500 word essay addressing each of the following points/questions. Be sure to completely answer all the questions for each bullet point. There should be three main sections, one for each bullet below. Separate each section in your paper with a clear heading that allows your professor to know which bullet you are addressing in that section of your paper. Support your ideas with at least three (3) sources using citations in your essay. Make sure to cite using the APA writing style for the essay. The cover page and reference page in the correct APA do not count toward the minimum word amount. Review the rubric criteria for this assignment.

  • What happens to the nurse when role stress or strain becomes too overwhelming? What happens to patient care? How is this related to possible ethical and legal issues? Discuss how nurses can manage or reduce role stress and role strain.
  • Explain two issues that lead to nurse burnout and discuss a solution for each issue.
  • Think of an experience in your nursing profession where you either felt strain or burnout and how you overcame this event. (Since this is a personal experience, you can use first-person narration for this portion of your essay.)
