The goal of this assignment is for you to present your views, values, and beliefs about;

• the four concepts of the nursing metaparadigm (person/client, nursing, health, and environment)
• their interrelationship to one another in your current practice of nursing (RN Geriatrics).

You will add to these views, values, and beliefs and compare your current practice to how you envision the advanced practice role you aspire (Family nurse practitioner) to in the future.

Your new knowledge is expected to be evidence-based.  The purpose of this exercise is:

• to identify your personal philosophy of nursing,
• re-examine, affirm, and validate this philosophy as the course progresses,
• foster professional and personal growth to transition into the role of the advanced practice registered nurse.
  (Show how you feel your role will change as you move into an APRN role within those 4 concepts: person/client, nursing, health, and environment)Discussion of the topic section.
  In this section develop your main points of your philosophical statement.
• Introduction: provide overall synopsis of the thought processes used to articulate a philosophy of advanced practice nursing. Describe the advanced practice nursing role you aspire and briefly share the experiences and/or qualities you have that have influenced your decision.
• The discussion should present a synthesis of your valued personal beliefs.
• Discussion of Valued Personal Concepts Metaparadigm concepts such as person/client, nursing, health, and environment.
• Additional concepts you may find valuable to advanced practice, such as IOM Future of Nursing, accountability, leadership, inter-professional collaboration, ethics, cultural and global diversity, and professionalism.
• Definition of each concept selected Relationships between and among concepts within your personal philosophy as applied to your current practice. Clearly elucidates areas of discussion Provides depth to area of discussion
• Summary Clear synopsis of discussion points
