Mental health diagnoses and considerations

We are discussing mental health diagnoses and considerations. One of the factors discussed is the impact of biology, read the article below discussing biological factors related to commonly seen mental health symptoms and share your thoughts. How might lack of knowledge of familial history impact diagnosis?

How does the biological approach explain mental health?
The biological approach to psychopathology believes that disorders have an organic or physical cause. The focus of this approach is on genetics, neurotransmitters, neurophysiology, neuroanatomy etc. The approach argues that mental disorders are related to the physical structure and functioning of the brain.
How a mental health diagnosis can be influenced by her environment?
It can include lack of access to resources such as adequate housing and exposure to negative stressors such as violence, crime or lack of public green space. A growing body of evidence suggests the relationship between deprivation and mental health is not just about absolute lack of resource for individuals.

The health and well-being of species

What dilemma do scientists scramble with as it is well documented that eutrophication/nutrient enrichment triggers Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs) and deteriorates water quality?

  1. To suggest solutions for overcoming challenges (possible consequences of eutrophication). Solutions can involve individual actions, economic or political strategies.

# Guidelines:Read the two articles from the links below, one from Environment Education Victoria and the other a release from a Nature Education-Knowledge Project that relate the dead zones mediated by eutrophication to indiscriminate use of insecticides, pesticides, and fertilizers. # Answer the following two questions-Thoroughly justify your answer by examining both your position and the opposing viewpoint:

  1. How do changes in the ecosystem due to nutrient enrichment impact the health and well-being of species, including Homo sapiens?
  2. How can advances in scientific understanding of eutrophication be applied to manage and mitigate the effects of multiple anthropogenic pressures?

Personal beliefs and values in the context of cognitive psychology

This week’s discussion was specially created to help you analyze concepts and knowledge (course learning goal #5) as well as to identify your own personal beliefs and values in the context of cognitive psychology (course learning goal #6).  Please share what you understand about concepts.  What are some ways we organize concepts?  How do concepts contribute to the development of expertise? How is this happening for you as you study psychology in pursuit of a new career adventure? How do concepts contribute to the use of stereotypes?

Describe how the organizational mission and philosophy influence the work and strategic plan of the organization

Consider the healthcare organization where you are currently employed (or were previously employed). What is the organizational mission and philosophy? Discuss the relevance and need for nurse leaders to understand the organizational structure and design, along with its relevance to organizational culture. Describe how the organizational mission and philosophy influence the work and strategic plan of the organization.

Defining “mental disorder” How do you think we define a mental disorder?

Defining “mental disorder” How do you think we define a mental disorder? (what constitutes/is required for symptoms to qualify as a “mental disorder”?)

A mental disorder is characterized by a clinically significant disturbance in an individual’s cognition, emotional regulation, or behaviour. It is usually associated with distress or impairment in important areas of functioning.
How would you define mental health in your own words?
What is mental health? Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being.
It affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make healthy choices.
Why is it called a mental disorder?
A mental disorder, also referred to as a mental illness or psychiatric disorder, is a behavioral or mental pattern that causes significant distress or impairment of personal functioning. Such features may be persistent, relapsing and remitting, or occur as single episodes.

The acceptance of healthcare insurance

Healthcare insurance has been a relatively new innovation in the last century. As healthcare innovations have increased, the model of insurance has evolved as well. The acceptance of healthcare insurance is now widespread and affects practices from large hospitals to small clinics across the country. Explain how nurses with advanced degrees can affect change in this dynamic.

Explaining nursing informatics and how it has changed the nursing whole

Reply to this post, explaining nursing informatics and how it has changed the nursing whole.

In the last module, I documented my experiences locating published sources, such as articles and journals that have discussed all my field of study and work. There were highlights of all the problems encountered locating sources for my project, the article’s wording, and a brief mention of sites I have found resourceful. In this module, I will give conclusions based on my research on healthcare informatics and nursing’s final presentation topic.

My literature review required that I track out and utilize publications that had been evaluated by other academics, therefore I consulted two different sources of scholarly articles. One of them is the National Library of Medicine, which, in conjunction with the National Center for Biotechnology Information, maintains a database of various sources (NCBI). By facilitating access to biomedical and genetic information, NCBI contributes to the advancement of both research and health. The Journal of Medical Internet Research was the second source that was used. JMIR Publications is a resource center that produces medical publications that include eHealth and digital health. These journals are evaluated by medical professionals in the field. An article that I found in JMIR and utilized helped me better comprehend the experiences that nurses have had working with health information technology.

I have come to the following conclusions about the topic of my final presentation: what exactly is meant by the term “informatics,” how it should be introduced to and incorporated into nursing practice, the experiences that nurses have had, and the reasons why certain nursing practice adjustments are required for long-term improvements in healthcare. To begin, healthcare informatics is an interpersonal  practice that combines nursing practice with information to use biomedical data, information, and knowledge for the purpose of scientific inquiry. This is an important step in improving skill sets such as problem-solving and decision-making, and it is at the heart of healthcare informatics. As a result, it serves as a driving force behind initiatives to promote general human health.

The second conclusion I have drawn from my investigation into the subject matter is that the adjustments made by nurses are essential to the successful deployment of healthcare informatics. To enhance the use of informatics and the quality of healthcare, it is vital to have an understanding of how nurses’ opinions of informatics have changed through time. According to the findings of a qualitative research that was carried out by Zadvinskis et al. (2018), thematic interconnectedness varied according to the worries and levels of satisfaction felt by nurses at various moments in time. According to the findings of the research, 18 months after the deployment of healthcare informatics, the attitudes of the nurses looked to be more balanced in each of the seven themes of the integration.

The seven themes of interest in the adoption and implementation of healthcare informatics are as follows: nurses’ interaction with informatics; nurses’ performance in regards to task accomplishment; nurses’ unit-specific teamwork; interdisciplinary teamwork; quality of care and nurse satisfaction; adaptation of nurses over time; and the organizational factors, such as policies, requirements, and decisions made by leadership. The areas of interest have the potential to contribute to the positive enhancement and improvement of the use of healthcare by nurses in the delivery of healthcare.

My third and last conclusion based on this line of inquiry is that the current nursing practice must undergo certain modifications to realize the potential long-term advantages. Imagine for a moment that healthcare institutions spend money on nursing practice improvement initiatives such as informatics, equipment, and policy. If this is the case, it will enhance systems that prioritize the safety of patients or the overall quality of healthcare, as well as the contentment of nurses in the performance of their professional obligations. In the context of healthcare informatics, potential areas for development in nursing practice include the development of healthcare informatics equipment with improved functionality, the enhancement of nursing content within informatics, an adequately improved human-computer interface and integration, nurses’ training on the adoption of informatics, and, as a final step, the modification of clinical workflow involving informatics in order to make it consistent with the policies and procedures of hospitals. If these proposed modifications in nursing practice are implemented, then nurses and other health practitioners will have a higher level of work satisfaction, which will eventually lead to an improvement in the quality of care provi
