Psychology of coaching

Analyze why, as globalization increases, it is important to consider psychology of coaching for industry and organization.

Industrial and organizational (I/O) psychologists study and assess individual, group and organizational dynamics in the workplace. They apply that research to identify solutions to problems that improve the well-being and performance of organizations and their employees.

The limbic system

What brain structure acts as the “emotional guide” by turning emotional responses into carefully planned and deliberate actions?

The limbic system
The limbic system controls the experience and expression of emotions, as well as some automatic functions of the body. By producing emotions (such as fear, anger, pleasure, and sadness), the limbic system enables people to behave in ways that help them communicate and survive physical and psychologic upsets.

What are the developmental stages of counseling?

The following six phases are described: The phases of the lay helper, the beginning student, the advanced student, the novice professional, the experienced professional, and the senior professional. The themes describe central processes of counselor/therapist development.

School counselors work with students in a variety of developmental stages.

Choose a grade level such as elementary, middle or high school, and provide an analysis of how traumatic experiences affect students at different developmental stages. How does a student’s developmental stage affect a school counselors approach to working with the student?

Counselors are responsible for working with students who need help managing their behavior, keeping up academically, or planning for the future. Counselors also work with administrators, teachers, and parents to develop a comfortable, healthy school environment free of bullying or illegal activities.

The Gestalt Principles of Perception

Chapter 2 – Perception, Written Response pertaining to The Gestalt Principles of Perception

Gestalt Psychology was a strong force in Psychology, especially in Europe.

However, it was less of a force in the U.S., and as textbooks can often be ethnocentric, our textbook does not go into enough detail regarding the Gestalt Psychology and their contributions to the field to Cognition, specifically in regard to Perception.

Simply put, Gestalt Psychology proposed that the “whole is different than the sum of its parts” (Anderson, 2020).

Structural neuroimaging techniques

Compare and contrast different structural neuroimaging techniques

functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) computerized tomography (CT) positron emission tomography (PET) electroencephalography (EEG) and magnetoencephalography (MEG)
Structural imaging techniques typically come in three different options: X-rays, computed tomography (CT) or computed axial tomography (CAT) scans, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans
CT scans and MRIs are both used to capture images within your body. The biggest difference is that MRIs (magnetic resonance imaging) use radio waves and CT (computed tomography) scans use X-rays.

The context of marriage nudging

I’m interested in your conditional ethic that in the context of marriage nudging is unethical. Is it not unethical for a government to nudge a citizen?

What is the difference do you think between nudging, manipulation, propaganda and coercion. Think about the UNESCO ethical principles.

ANY influence by anyone in government to take a drug is deemed unethical. But nudge theory principles were used in all western countries to do exactly that. Was that ok? Thoughts?

Three important ethical considerations for digital nudges are discussed: (1) Preserving individuals’ freedom of choice / autonomy, (2) transparent disclosure of nudges and (3) individual (pro-self) and societal (pro-social) goal-oriented justification of nudging.

Explain in detail the Social Cognitive theory

Explain in detail the Social Cognitive theory, and its relationship with the workplace bullying gap in the Intensive Care Unit nurses’ ?

The effects of cyberbullying also include mental health issues, increased stress and anxiety, depression, acting out violently, and low self-esteem. Cyberbullying can also result in long-lasting emotional effects, even if the bullying has stopped.

PCPs for psychotropic medication

Why do you think most individuals would instead go to their PCPs for psychotropic medication when this individual has not been specifically trained to prescribe these medications like a psychiatrist has been trained?

The reasons people gave for discontinuing their meds included fear of health risks and side effects of long-term use. I am also aware that often psychiatrists offer drugs too quickly, and without also strongly advising the patient concurrently do therapy to help deal with emotional issues.

What is a common misconception/assumption made about psychotropic medication (state at least one)?

Confounding variables

Confounding variables are those that affect other variables in a way that produces spurious or distorted associations between two variables.

They confound the “true” relationship between two variables. What is a confounding variable? How does it affect the validity of your research study?

Describe a research study that contains an example of a confounding variable.

For example, if you are researching whether lack of exercise leads to weight gain, then lack of exercise is your independent variable and weight gain is your dependent variable.
Confounding variables are any other variable that also has an effect on your dependent variable.

Explain Leaman’s controversial argument

Explain Leaman’s controversial argument that describes how non-disruptive cheating is not only morally permissible in sport but also is morally laudable.
In sport, moral identity has shown to deter athletes from cheating. Moral identity is strongly negatively associated with anti-social behaviours, such as injuring an opponent and breaking the rules (Sage et al., 2006. (2006).
The only way cheating can be justified is if the reasons behind the actions matter to you as a couple (or to you as an individual). Some people find the act of cheating unforgivable, regardless of the reasons behind it. Others consider all the factors. It all boils down to your personal feelings.
