The assessment of a child with suspected ADHD

Describe how you would proceed with the assessment of a child with suspected ADHD. What would be different in your approach to the assessment of an adult with suspected ADHD? Describe how you would assess clients from each of these age groups. Be sure to discuss how DSM-5 criteria can help you to arrive at the correct diagnosis. Be sure to include ethical/legal considerations in your response

Implementing safety program changes

You are on a client project site and witness one of our field staff members violating a safety requirement. Please describe how you would manage this incident and what you feel the best outcome would be. 2. Tell me about a time when you had a disagreement with a co-worker or your supervisor and how you handled the situation. Reflecting on the situation, is there something you wish you had done differently? 3. What do you consider most important when implementing safety program changes? 4. Tell me about a time when you had to work with a difficult person to accomplish a goal. 5. Tell me about a conflict situation in the workplace that you did not handle well. 6. How would you respond to a negative reaction to implementing a safety regulation you create?

Management and care for urinary disorders

Compare and contrast the signs, symptoms, and etiology of cystitis, glomerulonephritis, and pyelonephritis. Discuss the management and care for urinary disorders utilizing two priority nursing diagnoses.  Describe what prevention teaching you would give to males and females regarding these conditions. Be sure to utilize 1-2 references in your response

Principles of the Nuremberg Code

Read the article, The Nuremberg Code: A Critique. Read the article, Lest We Forget: The Tuskegee Experiment. Visit the following website and review The Belmont Report and The Nuremberg Code. U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (n. d.). Ethical Codes & Research Standards.

  1. Prepare to discuss the following Discussion Prompts:
    1. Describe three principles of the Nuremberg Code and explain how one of these principles is important to nursing research.
    2. Describe three ethical principles from the Belmont Report and explain how one of these principles applies to informed consent, risk/benefit assessment, and/or selection of participants.
    3. Describe the purpose of the Institutional Review Board (IRB).
    4. What values would be threatened if these principles had not been put in place? Support your answer with a verse from the Bible. For consistency, all students are to use the New International Version of the bible, which can be accessed via Biblegateway.com. Indiana Wesleyan is a Christian university, but students are not required to ascribe to that belief system to enroll or succeed in classes. Students of any religious background are able to address assignments regarding Christian worldview or biblical passages based on their understanding of the material (and not on the basis of their faith commitment). Students will not be graded based upon their personal beliefs, but rather, upon addressing the assignment instructions and rubric. In addition to responding to an assignment requiring a Bible passage, students may also share their perspectives based upon a religion other than Christianity. The Bible can be either Googled, or accessed for free via Biblegateway.com as demonstrated in this 4-minute tutorial: https://media.indwes.edu/media/1_ynzds5su.

Person-centered care of people with dementia living in care homes framework

Mr. Peterson has moderate dementia and has difficulty with his language. He never participates in any of the activities that the facility organizes. Today he walked over to the activity room and sat down at a table by himself. The recreation therapist asked one of the HCAs to take him back to his room. “He never participates anyway, so he probably just wandered over here by accident, please take him back to his room,” she tells the HCA. Small Group Discussion Question.

1. Is this a person-centered response? How could the HCA respond to Dawn’s statement and the situation?? 3. If Dawn or the HCA were to involve Mr. Peterson in the activity, what s should they consider? (refer to p. 31 of Guidelines for care: Person-centered care of people with dementia living in care homes framework) 4. Why is meaningful activity critical to a person-centered approach?(refer to top.28-30 Guidelines for care: Person-centered care of people with dementia living in care homes framework)

5. How can you provide the choices to the person who is able to choose and why is this important?

6. What terms are commonly used to address clients or older adults (e.g., love, dearie, etc.) and discuss why they are not appropriate and identify appropriate ways to address clients.

Improving cost-effectiveness and health outcomes

I am struggling with a topic for my paper this week on Developing strategies based on a theoretical framework, to support technology use in optimizing patient safety, and in improving cost-effectiveness and health outcomes.

In addition:

  1. Introduce with some relevant background, a problem of interest (patient safety, cost, health outcome, etc.), which can be improved through a technology solution.
  2. Write two “statements”:
    • Problem statement (Note: this is likely more than a “statement” as you will need some background, etc.); and,
    • The problem is worded as a research question (study question).

For example:

  • Problem: Patient throughput (time from ED admission order to placement in appropriate bed) is higher than national benchmark expectations.
  • Question: Would an implementation of a process change (name it) improve patient throughput?
  1. Identify the theoretical model (any nursing, system, or organizational theory is ok – and you may use one that you’ve already written about) that you would use to frame a research study around the above question; -or- Identify the quality improvement methodology (any QI methodology – with the exception of the “RCA”) you would use to perform an improvement study, from the question from above.
  2. And, in one to three paragraphs discuss/justify why you’ve chosen what you have. For example, if you’ve chosen a QI methodology rather than a theoretical model… Why? (Refer back to Notes from Instructor in the Week 6 Course materials).
  3. Finally, draw or diagram it.

Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thank you!
