Understanding nursing knowledge and taking care of patients

Would like assistance in thoroughly answering these questions. My instructor told me I did not answer the question correctly nor detailed. Please if you have read the book (I’m Here, Compassionate Communication in Patient Care by Marcus Engel) and know the nursing theories I would like help. My initial response to each question is below.

1. Marcus Engel described his experience as a patient in  I’m Here, Compassionate Communication in Patient Care. Consider how Patricia Benner’s From Novice to Expert Theory applies to Mr. Engel’s experiences.

2. Describe how Benner’s theory related to Mr. Engel’s experience.

3. How would the care received by Mr. Engel have been improved by applying Benner’s theory?

My initial response: 1. Marcus Engel described his experience as a patient in  I’m Here, Compassionate Communication in Patient Care. Consider how Patricia Benner’s From Novice to Expert theory applies to Mr. Engel’s experiences.

Patricia Benner’s From Novice to Expert theory is about understanding nursing knowledge and taking care of patients. Benner’s theory applies to Marcus Engel’s experiences because he was a patient. His nurse was able to show him compassion. The nurse had his physical, spiritual, and emotional needs in mind.

2. Describe how Benner’s nursing theory related to Mr. Engel’s experience.

Engel was initially treated as a novice patient by all the medical professionals he interacted with. Still, as his situation became more complicated, the treatment shifted to reflect his expertise.

3. How would the care received by Mr. Engel have been improved by applying Benner’s nursing theory?

First, it would have helped the nurses caring for Mr. Engel make better decisions and be more effective in their practice. Nurses who are more experienced and knowledgeable would provide a higher quality of care to the patient. In addition, they would also be able to provide a higher level of support and guidance to nurses who are less skilled and knowledgeable,

kidney transplant

You are assigned to care for Tina, a 14-year-old who has just received a kidney transplant. She was fortunate to have received the kidney very quickly; she was not on the transplant list long. Tina’s grandmother, who is her guardian, states that she is concerned about taking Tina home because of all of the medications Tina will be taking. Tina tells you, “The other nurses keep trying to teach me about this medication called cyclosporine. My grandmother is nervous about my coming home. I wish I knew more about this drug so that she wouldn’t be so scared about taking care of me and my little brother, who is 4.”

  1. Tina asks why she needs the cyclosporine and what the major effects of this medication are. What is your best response to Tina’s question?
  2. Tina complains that she has always taken ibuprofen for headaches, but now that she has had the transplant and started cyclosporine therapy, the nurses will not let her take ibuprofen. She also wants to have her favorite drink, pink grapefruit juice. How should you respond?

Concepts of Fluids and Electrolytes and the related concepts of nutrition

Gloria has shown clear signs of deficient fluid volume, rather than a potential to develop the condition. Gloria’s postpartum hemorrhage prompted dizziness, fatigue, and uncontrolled bleeding. In turn, the combination of these side effects has compromised her fluid volume, resulting in a DFV diagnosis. While Gloria is still experiencing general soreness from her labor, she is not experiencing any acute pain or impairment of her tissue integrity.

\Additionally, addressing the DFV will ensure that Gloria will be able to distinguish complications related to her fluid volume should they arise.

1. Which other concepts relate to the main concept in this scenario; explain why these concepts are important and how they are relevant to the scenario. Main concepts of Fluids and Electrolytes and the related concepts of nutrition, and perfusion

2. What abnormal signs and symptoms did you recognize and how did you prioritize your care of this patient?

3. How would you change your actions or interventions if you had a second chance to care for this patient?

4. How would you apply what you have learned from this scenario to future patients?

For the above questions:

Identifies at least two (2) related concepts that are important in this scenario and thoroughly explains why they are important and relevant to the scenario.

Identifies at least 2 abnormal signs and symptoms and thoroughly explains how they would prioritize the care of this patient.

Thoroughly explains at least 2 changes to actions or interventions if they had a second chance to care for this patient.

Thoroughly explains at least 2 ways they will apply what they have learned fr

Non-parental role models to reduce poor sexual behaviors

Everyone has unique needs, and you addressed the care plan in detail. The Community Preventive Services Task Force (CPSTF) recommends community education and behavioral interventions for adolescents to improve the development of reducing STIs, HIV, and teen pregnancy.

Topics to address include interventions that focus on improving decision-making, communication skills, and positive bonding experiences between youth and their peers or non-parental role models to reduce poor sexual behaviors in this population.

Screening for STIs is vital in people having unprotected sex (Community Prevention Services Task Force [CPSTF], 2007).

During which stage of the health plan would you implement screenings for this population?

Female full code allergy to ciprofloxacin

I need a reflective journal about a patient that I take care of. My patient was a 74 years old female full code allergy to ciprofloxacin. She came to the hospital because her husband found her unconscious and unresponsive. He called the EMS right away. He also stated that she’s not alert and oriented to time, herself, events, and days sometimes. But when I was taking care of her days after her admissions, he read her documentation.

Her nurse noted that she was getting better in reminding things, her name, and she’s more alert. She has a past medical history of type 2 diabetes, and hypertension which is being controlled by meds, hernia, and asthma she was on a 2L nasal cannula. In my shift, I took her blood glucose 3 times it was a normal level, and her vitals were normal to expect for her blood pressure didn’t improve at all. That’s pretty much about her.
