Speech Evaluation Assignment

Speech Evaluation Assignment Purpose: The purpose of the speech evaluation assignment is two-fold. First, it will provide you with examples of speeches before you begin on the more lengthy and challenging assignments of informative and persuasive speaking. Second, it requires students to answer questions about delivery, audience adaptation, structure, etc. in an effort to deepen understanding about the core principles related to public speaking.

Instructions: Your instructor will e-mail a link for the two speeches. It will work best if you watch the speech labeled “mediocre presentation” before watching the “good presentation.” The speeches will be available for further review on Panopto, so if you don’t catch everything the first time you can re-watch them as much as needed. After watching the videos you will then proceed to answer questions about these speeches in writing.

Requirements: Typed, well-composed responses that thoroughly encompass the details related to the questions posed. You should turn in the written responses through Canvas by the date assigned on the due dates link Answer the following questions in detail. Use terminology from the textbook and examples from the supplemental readings to support your ideas when necessary. All answers must be typed. 1. How does the introduction’s organization differ in the two speeches?

What is the impact that the introduction from the “good” speech has versus the lack of impact from the “mediocre” speech? 2. Explain how the delivery in each speech impacts the credibility of the speaker? What, if any, are specific instances you observed that damaged the credibility of the speaker?

What, if any, are specific instances you observed that bolstered the credibility of the speaker? 3. What role does audience analysis play in each speech? What, if anything, does being audience-centered add to the “good” presentation? What, if anything, does the lack of being audience-centered detract from the “mediocre” presentation?

4. What are the differences in how the visual aids are presented in the speech? Which speech has a stronger impact because of the visual aid and why? 5. What are some differences in content that you observed in these two speeches? What are specific examples of supporting material that made the speech stand out (either good or bad)?

6. What are the differences in the conclusion of the two speeches? Which speech ends with a stronger memorable message and why? 7. What letter grade would you assign to the “mediocre” speech and why? What letter grade would you assign to the “good” speech and why?

The human respiratory system is critical to immediate survival

The human respiratory system is critical to immediate survival. The key for understanding respiration function lies in the laws of gases. List two functions of components of the respiratory system. (a) (b) (c) (d) [25 marks] [4 marks] State and define the laws that show the effect of temperature and pressure involved in respiration function. [12 marks] Given a 2-L container of oxygen gas under a pressure of 740 mmHg, calculate the volume of the same mass of gas at a standard pressure
