Communicating for Safety Standard

Communicating for Safety Standard is an essential component of National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards. It defines the criteria for effective and coordinated communication that supports the delivery of continuous and safe care for patients. Research this Standard and identify three (3) requirements that health service organizations should follow to meet the criteria for effective communication with patients, carers and families

Healthcare issues of interest

Many nurses encounter daily experiences that motivate them to take on an advocacy role in hopes of impacting policies, laws, or regulations that impact healthcare issues of interest. Of course, doing so means entering the less familiar world of policy and politics.

As a nurse, how often have you thought to yourself, If I had anything to do about it, things would work a little differently? Increasingly, nurses are beginning to realize that they do, in fact, have a role and a voice.

While many nurses do not initially feel prepared to operate in this space effectively, the reward is the opportunity to shape and influence future health policy.

The prejudice and Discrimination of different religions

Hello Karine, and thanks for your post. You make an important point as you write, “The prejudice and discrimination of different religions divide the community so strongly. Sadly, some people don’t even like to be in the same room as a specific religion other than theirs. Suppose people of different faiths begin to communicate.

They will realize that religion, though not all the similar, with the concept of one God who is all-present, creates accountability in all individuals and makes them morally upright, irrespective of the religion they belong to.

This concept unites humanity and makes it evolve morally.” Yes, communication is not easy, and sometimes it has nothing to do with what you say but how you say it and the body language you display. “Learning to communicate is not a natural human ability, but rather a product of the cultural and social context one experiences as a child” (Koppelman, 2020). A person’s upbringing has genuine effects on their ability to communicate. Understanding the circular model of communication can result in effective communication.

Understanding the components of effective communication will reduce misunderstanding, improve interpersonal communication with one another, and help minimize, if not eliminate, prejudice and discrimination.

Great and well-written, and I enjoyed reading it.

Please answer to this question. thank you.

Karine, any thoughts on bringing healing to our Nation and helping eliminate racism and discrimination?

Study a Nursing practice problem

PICOT is utilized by the health care community to identify and study a nursing practice problem. Consequently, PICOT examples that may provide insight into the use of the PICOT process may not be relevant to nursing practice as they are based on a medical practice problem.

Define evidence-based practice. Describe the difference between a nursing practice problem and a medical practice problem. Provide one example of each. Discuss why is it important to ensure your PICOT is based on a nursing practice problem. with references

Discuss the types of consideration a nurse must be mindful of while performing a health assessment on a geriatric patient as compared to a middle-aged adult.

The Journal of Nursing Education

Review some nursing journals that deal primarily with education, research, or administration, such as the Journal of Nursing Education, Nursing Research, or the Journal of Nursing Administration, and discuss the current topics that are emphasized in these journals.
