Coronary artery bypass graft

Marty Cena is a 65 year old retired lawyer who has been admitted to your ward following a coronary artery bypass graft (CABG). Mr. Cena was diagnosed and admitted 5 days ago and has been transferred to your ward from the intensive care unit where he was stabilized. Mr.Cena has a history of angina, arrhythmia and hypertension. Mr. Cena’s wife of 40 years has not left his side since he was brought to the hospital. Mr Cena is on swallowing precautions and is going to require support for all his care and ADL’s.
Notes:

●  Had a CABG

●  Swallowing precaution →Crush PO meds

●  Dalteparin (anticoagulant) is given given to prevent DVT because theyre mostly

immobile and have a CABG

●  No thin fluids until swallowing assessment is been done by SLP – talk to the

physical and get referral for SLP
