Different Dialects

Socially, Tan and I speak formally, but in different dialects. Being from North California, Tan uses US English in
her daily routine. While talking to her mother’s stockbroker about the check, she said, “Yes, I am getting
rather concerned. You had agreed to send the check two days ago, but it has not arrived”
