Complete the PDR assignment. The Physician’s Desk Reference or PDR is a collection of manufacturers’ prescribing information on prescribed drugs. It is updated annually and designed to help allied health professionals to research drug information.
1. Using the PDR.net (Links to an external site.) , you will complete 5 drug cards. Pick five (5) drugs from the following categories of the Top 200 Drugs. Gastrointestinal, Musculoskeletal, Respiratory, Immune, Neuro, Cardio, Endocrine, Eye drops, and (Vitamin, Mineral, Electrolyte, Etc.).
2. Next, it is important to practice the pronunciation of medical terms including the names of medications. Please visit one of the following links, and for each of the drugs you chose for this assignment, enter the name of the drug within the search box, then click to listen to the correct pronunciation. http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/ (Links to an external site.) or http://www.merriam-webster.com/medlineplus/ (Links to an external site.)
3. Download the attached template to fill in your answers. The template has the 5 required drug cards, and you will need to include the category of the drug and summarize the requested information. Please label each card with the title Drug Card 1, Drug Card 2, etc.. When completing the drug cards, please DO NOT copy/paste the requested information from the PDR website on to the drug cards. Please review the information on the website and then summarize the information in your own words in order to receive full credit.
