Possible patient/population, intervention, comparison and outcomes question

For the two practice examples, complete a possible patient/population, intervention, comparison and outcomes question. Make sure the questions have the elements of a PICO.

First identify each element that will make up the PICO question and then take all the elements and write a question. Then identify the search terms you would use, which are the main concepts in the PICO question.

Scenario 1: You currently are working as an NP in a university health center and you have identified a trend in the number of first-year undergraduate students who are seeking help for managing stress. You are working with faculty on a task team to create opportunities for mindfulness education.

Your team is wondering if offering a yoga- based meditation program is the best way to alleviate the stress that college students are experiencing. P: I: C: 0: Write a full question, putting all of the elements together in one sentence. Identify the search terms you would use to search the literature.

Scenario 2: You currently are working as an athletic trainer for a college—level gymnastic team.

You are assigned to be on an interprofessional committee to identify the best approach for preventing burnout that often comes with continuous training. One member suggested mindfulness interventions.

You are asked to conduct a literature search to help the team understand the benefits of mindfulness as way to reduce the number of players’ who experience burnout.
