Rural and remote health service challenges

Rural and remote health service challenges. Jess, John and their 4-year-old son Jack present to the Emergency Department of your small remote clinic in central Queensland. Your clinic is the only place to access healthcare within 4 hours. They live on a cattle farm where young Jack fell over outside while playing. He has lacerations and grazes, but you are concerned that one on his knee may require sutures. Jack also fell awkwardly onto his arm and you are concerned he may have fractured his wrist.

Key issues

  • Lack of access
  • Lack of equity surrounding healthcare facility ability to respond.
  • There is no child abuse or negligence from the parents.
  • What are the legal and ethical role and responsibilities of a healthcare system responding to your chosen life crisis event .
  • Using the Social Justice Framework outline and discuss ways a healthcare system and RN/RM may assist in times of your chosen life crisis event
  • Delineate and critically analyse the role and responsibilities of your healthcare profession during your chosen life crisis event
