An excellent physical environment is where seniors are given all the tools, they need to achieve longevity, purpose, and fundamental health. Just as you create a safe and happy environment in your home, your elderly parents can enjoy the same while living in a facility in Burnaby. The place has an excellent physical environment. There are numerous ways in this place to help maintain a healthy physical environment for the seniors, for example:
Volunteering/Feeling useful and needed
Retirement means extra time to volunteer. You have many different options to volunteer.

Seniors Programs- social and recreational groups (in-person, on the phone, or over Zoom!)
Senior Peer Support- provide one-on-one support and guidance to fellow seniors through challenging times in their lives.
Foodbank or Food Distribution Volunteers
Make hand-made crafts for sale at the senior Centre.
Community Thrift Shop
Keep up with Family
Designate a day of week or month to have a family dinner or get together. That will give them the time to catch up and see their grandchildren. Just around the city, there are various restaurants that they can go to. Staying in contact with their family will keep them happy and healthy. It will also help to reduce stress and anxiety.
Get out and Exercise
The family can drive them to George McLean Park, Deer Lake Park
This park is situated in a peaceful natural environment that serves as the cultural centre of our city. Leisurely walking trails with scenic views
Staying active is essential to a long and healthy life as well. They can walk with a group. Working out with a group or partner is safe to exercise and creates accountability.
Good nutrition is vital to a happy and healthy life
Shop local markets or farmers’ markets for fresh vegetables and lean meats. There are so many grocery stores like Save On Super Store.
Reduce Stress
Stress is a significant cause of illness. To reduce stress, exercise, meditate and laugh. Laughter is a way to stimulate breathing heart rate, and it helps to release endorphins in your brain, creating a healing response to aches and pains. When you are laughing, you are relaxed and feeling good, and this lowers anxiety and feelings of sadness
