The word “algae” refers to a wide variety of organisms capable of creating oxygen via the process of photosynthesis. There is no guarantee that these creatures are connected to one another. Algal blooms spark debates as to whether they can be safe or unsafe for the oceans, with many people perceiving them as unsafe, contrary to scientific research.

Algae is good for the ocean in a number of ways. It is only that people do not perceive it as a good thing. The phenomenon known as nutrient contamination is the primary factor in the formation of algal blooms. As a result of nutrient pollution, there is an abundance of nitrogen and phosphorus in the environment.

This may encourage algae to proliferate uncontrollably. The phenomena may be traced back to a wide range of actions carried out by humans. (Vidyasagar, 2016).

Because they absorb energy from the sun, carbon dioxide, and water, algae are a crucial component of a balanced marine environment. Algae build organic molecules by using the energy that they have obtained. This cycle contributes to the preservation of the ocean’s delicate ecological equilibrium (Deep Dive).

Eutrophication is the process by which an excessive amount of nutrients accumulates in aquatic ecosystems as a result of anthropogenic sources. These nutrients are primarily rich in phosphorous and nitrogen, and their accumulation causes a series of changes in the structure and function of aquatic ecosystems that lead to a decline in the quality of the water (Vítová, 2019).
