Treatments for parasitic infections

For this week’s discussion, Imagine that someone in your class becomes infected with a parasite. You are devoted to helping rid them of the parasite and spend hours pouring over literature. You have this week examined various pharmaceutical treatments for specific parasitic infections. However, you begin to wonder whether home remedies (aside from pharmaceutical treatments) also exist. For this discussion post, choose a parasite of interest (one covered in this week’s module) and contrast any home remedies you can find with more standard treatments. Have these home remedies been reported to work? How effective are standard treatments? The parasite I chose to talk about was Roundworms Ascaris lumbricoides.
