Weakness of the right arm
Question 3: You are caring for a 29′ year-old woman who has presented to the emergency room with headache. nausea. and weakness of the right arm. A friend who brought her to the hospital reports that patient had trouble speaking and finding words, and seemed "a little confused and frustrated." but tells you that “speech has improyed.” The emergency room doctor suspects that this patient may be suffering from a migraine headache with aura, but has ordered an MRI to rule out something more serious.
1. What additional questions do you haye for this patient? 2. Tell us which parts of the physical exam you think would be most important. What sorts of abnormal findings would you be alert for? Below is the patient’s brain MRI. 3. Any idea of what the MRI suggests? 4. Should genetic testing of any sort be considered (after emergency care and once the patient is stabilized]?
