Explain how the regulatory environment and the regulations of Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRN) board of nursing regulations differ from California. Be specific and provide examples.

Advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs) play a significant role in improving health
care delivery (Martsolf et al., 2015).

However, the scope of practice is governed by state-specific
regulations determined by APRN board of nursing regulation. In the state of Oregon, one of the
APRN board of nursing regulations is the Oregon Chronic Opioid Prescribing Guidelines which
recommends the safe use of opioid medications for patients with chronic pain.

The other
regulation is the Scope of Practice Decision Tree, which presents a standardized framework for
use for all licensed nurses (Oregon State Board of Nursing, n.d.).

These nursing regulations in Oregon share some similarities and differences with the
regulations in other states.

For instance, the Oregon Chronic Opioid Prescribing Guidelines are
similar to those of Ohio’s Prescriptive Authority described in chapters 4723-9 of the Ohio
Administrative Code.

This code provides regulations for prescribing opioids for acute, sub-acute
and chronic pain. However, the difference between Oregon’s and Ohio regulations is that Ohio
provides a formula for APRN prescribers while Oregon does not.

The other difference is that
Ohio has a specific decision-making model for APRNs (Ohio Board of Nursing, n.d.).

Oregon,
on the other hand, has the Scope of Practice Decision Tree, which provide a framework for all
nurses irrespective of their education, role or functions (Oregon State Board of Nursing, n.d.).

The Oregon regulations may apply to advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs)
differently.

The Scope of Practice Decision Tree regulation applies to APRNs because it outlines
their scope of practice. According to Blair and Jansen (2015), the scope of practice is essential
for APRNs because it helps nurses gain more knowledge.

Opioid Prescribing Guidelines are
essential because they identify the extent to which APRNs can prescribe. Ladd et al. (2019)
argued that the scope of practice and prescriptive authority is the function of state statute.

What are the seven (7) patient rights? With each right give an example of how an EN could ensure that the patient has access or is afforded these rights

What are the seven (7) patient rights? With each right give an example of how an EN could ensure that the patient has access or is afforded these rights.  Please give me some practical examples for each of these rights 🙂

Access

I need to ensure the patient has a right to health care and access to healthcare services/treatments that meets their needs. Access to health care is a basic right for every person in Australia. 

Safety

All patients have the right to safe and high-quality health care that meet national standards. Patients are to be cared for in an environment that makes them feel safe. If the patient doesn’t feel like they are being heard or we may have missed in their care they should feel they can voice their concerns. 

Communication

We need to ensure that patients understand the information they are provided. Patients need to be able to understand the conversation clearly and have access to an interpreter if needed. Communication is important with patients, and they should feel they can share information. 

Participation

Patients have a right to be apart off all decisions and choices about care. Participation by patients in their health care is encouraged by engaging the patient in discussions about treatment options. 

Privacy

A right to privacy and confidentiality of provided information. Privacy requires that all participants be sensitive to the privacy needs of patients and ensuring that the patient’s information is only shared with other appropriate health professionals when necessary. 

Comment

A right to comment on care and have concerns addressed. The patients need to feel like they have been listened too. They should feel like they can make a comment. By being attentive to the concerns of the patient this is encouraging them to participate in a two-way communication. 

Respect

All clinical staff are mindful of a patient’s environment and background and providing health care and advice that is appropriate to the patient.

Richard is a 50-year-old male with nasal congestion, sneezing, rhinorrhea, and postnasal drainage

Richard is a 50-year-old male with nasal congestion, sneezing, rhinorrhea, and postnasal drainage. Richard has struggled with an itchy nose, eyes, palate, and ears for 5 days. As you check his ears and throat for redness and inflammation, you notice him touch his fingers to the bridge of his nose to press and rub there.

He says he’s taken Mucinex OTC the past 2 nights to help him breathe while he sleeps.

When you ask if the Mucinex has helped at all, he sneers slightly and gestures that the improvement is only minimal. Richard is alert and oriented. He has pale, boggy nasal mucosa with clear thin secretions and enlarged nasal turbinates, which obstruct airway flow but his lungs are clear.

His tonsils are not enlarged but his throat is mildly erythematous

NB

-Please make up the information needed to do your Focused/Episodic Soap note.

-To say N/A is not acceptable.

-For ROS and PE, you do not have to Review all the systems, only the ones that are related to the CC. Always review and examine the Resp and CV system no matter the complaint.

**You will need to put in (MAKE UP) the missing information in the note (some of the information you will have to MAKE UP ie meds, hx, parts of the ROS and PE). I’m looking to make sure you know what information to include.

In the Assessment/Plan, you will document your differential diagnoses as per the assignment.

-YOU WILL MAKE UP INFORMATION IN ORDER TO COMPLETE THE SUBJECTIVE AND OBJECTIVE INFORMTION.

  1. Briefly describe one Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander child-rearing practice that you have investigated in the documents.

Reference the documents appropriately using APA7 referencing (provided above).

Explanation:

  • Aboriginal Australian cultural practices in family life and child raising are the subject of a first document, Family life and child rearing are strong features of Australia’s indigenous peoples’ traditions .
  • Aboriginal child-rearing traditions place a high value on the necessity of community involvement and cultural continuity. A firm basis for a child’s development and well-being is provided by these behaviors, they say.
  • These people’s child-rearing techniques are discussed in detail in the second publication Indigenous Peoples of the Pacific Islands Child Care Secretariat: Best Practices in Childrearing .
  • Family, community and culture are central to these rituals. Children’s well-being and growth are bolstered by these methods, according to the authors.
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander child-rearing traditions place a high value on family, community, and culture. Children’s well-being and growth are bolstered by these methods, according to the authors. Skin names” are mentioned in both these documents, as is the practice of “skin names” in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander child-rearing.
  •  These names are given to children depending on their connections to their family and neighborhood. Family and community ties are strengthened and children gain a sense of belonging through this practice.
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander child-rearing traditions are focused on family, community, and culture, according to these two studies. For children’s growth and well-being, these behaviors are essential.

13. Identify a benefit to the child from the approach you have described in question 12.  Reference your source/s.
