One tool that is used to determine Functional abilities

In module 1 in this course, you studied functional assessment and examined the Katz assessment, which is one tool that is used to determine functional abilities. After viewing the example in this video, how would you compare the OASIS requirements for assessment to assessments used in clinical areas where you have worked? Post your response as a discussion post. This is a reflection of your learning during this module as applied to the video. Reading and replying to peers is recommended and contributes to your learning, but it is not required or part of the evaluation.

Intravenous medications

Intravenous medications are immediately circulated throughout the body, just like fluids. Understanding the potential risks and how to respond to those potential adverse reactions are important to encourage positive patient outcomes.

Proper delegation and use of the interprofessional team can help prevent any adverse reactions, as collaborating with the healthcare team promotes communication. Alone, skills are not high-level learning activities, but reflection can be used to strengthen the application process and enhance the critical thinking associated with skill performance.

Now that you have completed your initial submission for administering intravenous push medication, let’s engage in a conversation on the importance of collaboration with the interprofessional team.

Please respond to the following prompts utilizing the textbooks to include evidence-based information in your post. Please cite and reference using APA 7th edition.

1. What action would you have taken if the medication ordered was the wrong medication/dose? Who would have been notified? Provide your rationale.

2. The patient was given the wrong medication and you must communicate this error to the provider. What framework of communication would you use to relay this information to the provider? Provide your rationale.

3. You are the RN and are unable to gain venous access on a patient who is really dehydrated. Who would you collaborate with to gain access and what methods could you use to help assist in gaining access?

Protected health information

Review HIPAA, protected health information (PHI), and requirements for privacy and confidentiality in EHRs. Discuss one ethical and one legal issue related to the use of EHRs that directly impact advanced registered nursing practice.

Consider the emerging role of the telehealth and the EHR in patient care delivery and compromise of patient data using telehealth applications and measures you can implement in your own practice to protect patient privacy and confidentiality.

A medical-Surgical unit

For this assignment, you are a registered nurse (RN) in a medical-surgical unit. The charge nurse assigns you five (5) patients for your shift. Using critical thinking, nursing judgment, and the five rights of delegation, you must complete the following tasks using your Assigned Patient List

Task 1: After reviewing each scenario, determine the priority nursing action and cite your reference. Each answer can be found in the readings assigned in this module. Each response must be cited using APA 7th edition making sure to include the page number(s).

Task 2: Determine what reaction your patient is experiencing and what other symptoms the patient may exhibit or complain of.

Task 3: Using the National Board of State Nursing and American Nurses Association National Guidelines for Nursing Delegation & delegate to the LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) or UAP (Unlicensed Assistive Personnel) an action that would be appropriate to assist the RN in responding to the transfusion reaction.

Make sure you clearly state who you would delegate to (LPN or UAP). If there is not an appropriate action for either team member to delegate

The Unfolding case study

This discussion is based on the unfolding case study. Initial Post: Using the assigned readings and internet resources, select two out of the three following questions to discuss in your initial post. 1. Phil and Lois each deal with chronic illness(s).

Explain how each of the spouses’ conditions align with the Corbin Strauss Trajectory of Chronic Illness.

2. Calculate and explain how you would determine Phil’s level of caregiver role strain.

3. Identify indicators of the quality of care provided by Phil, considering factors such as his knowledge, skills, and relationship with his spouse. Use his responses to identify strengths and issues the nurse would use to plan interventions for the couple.
