Typhoid fever

A 20-year-old male patient was kept in the hospital due to his persistently high body temperature. The patient’s spleen was discovered to be enlarged, and tests revealed that his body temperature was 40.5 degrees, his pulse was 78 beats per minute, and his white blood cell count was 3.5 X 107/L. Bowel fever was the patient’s initial diagnosis. The subsequent Widal test revealed that only the Salmonella typhi O titres were abnormal, measuring 1:80. One week later, a follow-up test showed that the feces had tested positive for Salmonella typhi, with Salmonella typhi H titres reaching 1:320. The patient was subsequently determined to have typhoid fever.
Using the information you acquired in immunology class, try analyzing why the patient’s Salmonella typhi O and H antigens cannot be identified concurrently? What differences exist between them? And please describe the entire process of how the O and H antigens of Salmonella typhi elicit humoral immune responses in the body, respectively?
Explain in 1000 words.
