Repeated CSR concerns

The Question: Apple is a large company with resources and public visibility to address these repeated CSR concerns. What in your opinion should Apple do to tackle the allegations?

Con side position: Apple should adopt an engagement strategy. Acknowledge the role that media and social media play in shaping consumer CSR expectations. Scale down operations and move work away from suppliers when systematic violations of fair labor standards are identified.

To strengthen your argument…

  • Display a Stakeholder map that, in your opinion indicates the legitimacy and urgency of each stakeholder.
  • Summarize briefly Apple’s CSR engagement efforts, and the nature of its outsourcing process.
  • Offer a coherent Ethical perspective: Which ethical theory is most appropriate for this situation?
  • Given your position, what should Apple’s next steps be?

Repetitive Work cycle

A time study analyst observed a repetitive work cycle performed by a worker and then studied the task using a predetermined motion time system. During the observation, the analyst made a record of the work elements. She also made a note of the worker’s performance and rated as 105%. Back in the office, the analyst listed the basic motion elements for the task and calculated the sum of the normal times equals 1.38 minutes. The company uses a PFD allowance factor of 15%. Determine the standard time for the task to three decimal places. Show all work for full credit.

Why have there been no Great Women artists?

Why have there been no great women artists? Does art created by women look different that art created by men? In what way(s)? The great writer Linda Nochlin asked the same questions when she wrote her famous article in 1971 titled Why Have There Been no Great Women Artists?

  1. Is there such a thing as “women’s art”?
  2. What is your response to the claim that women have insights into certain experiences (such as childbirth) which are inaccessible to men, and that their art will or can reflect these unique female experiences?
  3. To what extent do you feel hampered by female stereotypes and preconceived ideas of women’s artistic abilities?
  4. To what extent does a woman artist have to “prove herself” more than a male artist does in order to receive recognition?
  5. Why have there been no great women artists?
  6. How, in general, would you describe the attitude of male artists toward female artists? Is there a bias?
  7. Is there a relationship between the artistic occupation and social class?
  8. Describe the feminist action towards why there have been no great women artists spoken about in the article.

The Tablet-House of Ancient Mesopotamia

What section (i.e., The Tablet-House of Ancient Mesopotamia, Student Nations: Bologna, The Inns of Court, etc.) do you see as having the most influence on higher education as a whole, and why?

The Gospel of Luke

Read Chapters 1-4 and 22-24 in the Gospel of Luke. Read Chapters 1-20 from the Book of Acts. Identify two passages from Luke-Acts that exemplify the topics of Life and Faith. At least one of these must be from Acts.

  1. Compose an initial post  that identifies your passages and explains where and how you see the themes of Life and Faith at work in each of them. You do not need to quote the entire passage, but you should use specific pieces of each passage in your explanation.

Solving Systems of Equations Approximately Project

04.03 Solving Systems of Equations Approximately Project. A lake has a native population of 1,000 frogs. The native frog population increases at a rate of 200 frogs per year. A new species of 10 frogs migrates to the lake. This new species’ population increases at a rate of 50% per year. When will the two populations equal each other? Select to reveal each frog population’s growth model.

A system of equations can be created with the two functions to determine when the populations will have the same population output value, y.
y = 200x + 1,000
y = 10(1.5x)

To determine when the populations will be equal, set the equations equal to each other, and solve for x.
200x + 1,000 = 10(1.5x)

This equation is a little more challenging to solve by algebraic methods. In this lesson, you will solve systems of equations like the one above approximately by effectively using technology and tables.

Student completes the table with the correct values.

Student finds the solution to the equation.

Student uses the graph to justify the statement.

Student uses the graph to determine the approximate year that the two ad revenues were equal.

Student interprets and analyzes the data in a table.
